Inspired by your work space?

Sometimes I am and sometimes I am not. It's important though and I am still honing in on what it takes to get there. Dan found this interesting video on the role of a desk I thought it was thought provoking:

Desk - Music and Sound Design from Aaron Trinder Film:Motion:Music on Vimeo.

Here are work spaces that are visually inspiring to me:

I will post pictures of my studio soon.

velvet crush.

The last time I wore velvet was in high school...I just may have to wear it again soon.

Milk...

Chicken? I know, two words that don't necessarily go together. But upon Claire's lavish praise we made this chicken and loved this chicken. Kudos to Jamie Oliver for putting it all together.

Fresh ideas.

Different, fresh approaches to everyday spaces...

both spaces are gorgeous!

Commission.

Another commission completed!

Dress for fall.

This fall I am loving the layered-dress-look. As a mom I want something that is quick, easy, comfortable and cute--a dress. You don't have pick out the different components of your outfit, the dress is your outfit. Everything else can be seen as an accessory and as mixing and matching is in, almost any combo works. Dress, flats, tights, sweater. Dress, skinnies, boots, coat. Dress, scarf, heels. Dress it up, dress it down. The options are endless. Here are cute everyday dresses I have had my eye on:
Far left options are APC. All others are Modcloth and are less expensive.

Encaustic cuties.

I am always excited to find encaustic work I like. These small pieces are sweet and in a way they remind me of some of Richard Deibenkorn's more playful paintings.

updo update...

the one thing I miss is wearing it all up.

If I had 1000$ to spend redecorating the nursery...

I would spend it all on this chair:

Ok, maybe not, but I love it. I have seen it floating around some design blogs recently and have had chair envy-ever since.

Here are a few ideas on 1000$ better spent in the nursery (I have yet to find a cute/less expensive chair to replace the pretty blue):

Clockwise: animal prints, owl mobile, crib sheet, crib, lamp, changing pad cover, dresser, rug, knobs, birdie pillow.

In the end, this look is similar to Levis nursery--I will post pictures at some point.

Levi at seven months.

Gleek.

I just witnessed Levi's first gleek! So cute...tiny baby gleek...and over peas and egg yolk...

Thankfully, the world of food gets better and better!

One Pot Wonder.

This soup is so delicious. It too is perfect for fall. But the best part is that its a one pot meal. So simple and easy--here is the recipe.

The bread was also delic. If I could capture the smell in a picture, your mouth would be watering. I will be making this again. The recipe is from The Joy of Cooking--Milk Bread.

Busy Bee Family.

We have all been on the go lately...don't remember ever being so busy. I think that happens when you have a family--it's a good busy though. Suddenly life is constantly changing in such a tangible way and full of excitement. One day your baby has two teeth the next day he has four (true story). Levi is now officially on the go--nothing is cuter than a crawling baby! He is such a ham, too...if we laughs, he laughs.

Meanwhile Dan and I race full speed ahead, trying to balance parenthood with work. Dan is liking his new job and traveling to all sorts of fun places. I am trying to stay a float and squeeze meetings and painting each day, whenever I can. No end in sight for my business--well, I am aiming to take a Christmas break. :)

Today I worked on a piece for a friend who is getting married. He's surprising his wife-to-be with painting that incorporates their memories, using their "paper trails." Great idea and very thoughtful gift.

Door County

This past weekend my sister Rachel and her family and my brother Josh and his family joined us in Door County. Growing up we spent a lot of time there and it was fun to visit our old stomping ground. Amazing to be up there, all grown up and sharing our memories now with our spouses and kids. It was BEAUTIFUL and so fun to spend that time together!

HHHaircut.

I got my hair cut and this J.Crew model was my inspiration. I cut 12 inches off! Yikes! I think it is going to work out though--it's a nice change to say the least. I feel lighter and fresh...I am lighter and fresh.

Setu.

I have been working on redesigning the first floor of Crossway. The Setu chair was chosen for the sales conference room. I like that it is hip and current but simple and practical...form and function coexisting beautifully. You have done it again, Herman Miller.
